Slasher Cupcakes – Blood Filled!
These knives were so fun to decorate with! We knew we’d have to do some slasher movies with them. We eventually chose Halloween, but honestly, any slasher movie would work with them. Cherry filling in the center makes them feel extra bloody.

Ingredients
- Boxed cake mix (We used a yellow cake but chocolate will compliment the cherry flavor)
- Knives (See below)
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 3 Eggs
- Butter ( substitute for oil in box cake mix)
- 1/4 cup applesauce
Instructions
- Make the cake batter as directed, substituting butter for oil. If the recipe calls for 2 eggs, add one more. Add applesauce. Mix well.
- Use cupcake liners in an oversized cupcake tin (jumbo tins)
- Add cake batter to each tin, 1/2 of the way.
- Spoon a two -three tablespoons of cherry pie filling to each half filled tin.
- Add batter to each tin until 3/4 of the way full.
- Bake according to instructions
- LET COOL COMPLETELY
- Ice cupcakes with royal icing, or store bought, We used a fresh whipped cream icing made with heavy cream, and confectioners sugar and vanilla. To keep it from being too runny we put it in the freezer for 10 mins.
- Add some cherry filling to the top of the cupcake and add the knives or axes.
